Environmental Impact Note

JOBTOKEN Environmental Impact Note
Effective Date – September 19th, 2025
Issuer: YOUR SERVICE LLC – FZCO ("YourService", "we", "our")
This Environmental Impact Note is published in line with Part II of the VARA Virtual Asset Issuance Rulebook, which encourages issuers to disclose the environmental footprint of the virtual‑asset technology they deploy.
1. Purpose of this Note
1.1. Jobtoken is a non‑transferable, closed‑loop digital reward that may only be granted during time‑limited promotional campaigns ("Promotions") when you create and verify an account on the YourService platform.
1.2. This document explains the environmental considerations associated with Jobtoken, a non‑transferable, closed‑loop virtual asset issued on the TON (The Open Network) Proof‑of‑Stake (PoS) blockchain.
1.3. It aims to provide Users, partners and regulators with transparent information about energy consumption, carbon footprint and mitigation measures.
1.4. For the purposes of this Note, the term “Release 1” refers solely to the initial set of permitted uses and restrictions that apply to Jobtoken; it does not represent a separate tranche, batch or issuance of tokens.
1.5. Under Release 1, Jobtoken cannot be sold, transferred, pledged, redeemed or exchanged for any goods, services, fiat currency or other virtual assets.
2. Environmental Profile of TON PoS
Metric | TON PoS (latest) | Bitcoin PoW (reference) | Source |
---|---|---|---|
Electricity per transaction | ≈ 0.0000586 kWh (0.0586 Wh) | ≈ 0.707 kWh | Sustainability Dashboard(sustainability.ton.org); Digiconomist(digiconomist.net) |
Annualised electricity consumption | ≈ 3.6 GWh | ≈ 175 TWh | TON Sustainability Dashboard(sustainability.ton.org); CBECI Index(ccaf.io) |
Consensus mechanism | Proof-of-Stake | Proof-of-Work | — |
Annualised CO₂e emissions | ≈ 1,020 t CO₂e | ≈ 98 Mt CO₂e | TON Sustainability Dashboard(sustainability.ton.org); Digiconomist(digiconomist.net) |
Key Take-aways:
- PoS ≠ PoW: TON uses stake-weighted validator selection; no energy-intensive mining.
- Energy efficiency: Each TON transaction consumes roughly 12,000× less energy than a Bitcoin transaction.
- Scalability: Transaction throughput scales horizontally without linear energy growth, keeping marginal kWh/tx extremely low.
- PoS ≠ PoW: TON uses stake-weighted validator selection; no energy-intensive mining.
- Geographic factor: Many TON validators operate in regions with above-average renewable penetration (Nordics / MENA solar).
- Scalability: Transaction throughput scales horizontally without linear energy growth, keeping marginal kWh/tx low.
3. Jobtoken‑Specific Impact (Release 1)
Metric | TON PoS (latest) |
---|---|
Maximum Jobtoken transactions | ≤ 50,000 (one allocation per eligible account) |
Total electricity for allocations | ≈ 2.9 kWh (50 k tx × 0.0000586 kWh/tx) |
Equivalent CO₂e emissions | ≈ 0.83 kg CO₂e (50 k tx × 0.0166 g/tx) |
Maximum Jobtoken transactions | ≤ 50,000 (one allocation per eligible account) |
4. Sustainability Commitments by YourService
4.1. Validator Location (best‑efforts). Where practical, any first‑party TON validator nodes operated by YourService will be hosted in data centres that prioritise renewable‑energy sourcing or high energy‑efficiency ratings.
4.2. Emissions Mitigation (planned). YourService is evaluating certified carbon‑offset and insetting mechanisms and may use them in the future to help balance Jobtoken‑related emissions.
4.3. Code Efficiency (ongoing). YourService endeavours to keep smart‑contract code and backend logic lightweight in order to minimise on‑chain storage and computation costs.
4.4. Transparency (periodic). Subject to resource availability, YourService intends to publish summary information on Jobtoken transaction volumes and indicative energy use from time to time.
4.5. These statements are aspirations rather than binding commitments and may evolve as technical, commercial and regulatory circumstances change.
