BMS Technician – Job Description A BMS Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Building Management Systems that control and monitor a building’s mechanical and electrical equipment such as HVAC, lighting, fire alarms, and energy systems. Key Responsibilities Install, test, and commission BMS systems and field devices Monitor and operate BMS software to ensure optimal building performance Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC systems, sensors, controllers, and actuators Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on BMS networks and equipment Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and control diagrams Integrate systems such as HVAC, lighting, fire alarm, CCTV, and energy meters Ensure all systems operate efficiently to reduce energy consumption Respond to system alarms and emergency breakdowns Prepare daily reports, maintenance logs, and documentation Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and other technicians on site Skills & Requirements Knowledge of BMS platforms (e.g., Honeywell, Siemens, Schneider, Johnson Controls) Understanding of HVAC systems and controls Basic networking knowledge (IP systems, Modbus, BACnet) Electrical troubleshooting skills Ability to read technical drawings Good problem-solving and communication skills Qualifications Diploma or certificate in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or BMS Experience in installation and maintenance of BMS systems Relevant certifications are an advantage
